Hi there everyone! Today is the day. It is my first full day collaborating with the City of Camrose to facilitate some exciting workshops leading up to the big event of Canada’s 150th birthday celebration on July 1st, 2017. Before that happens though, there is other really neat stuff taking place here in the beautiful city of Camrose, Alberta, such as the Steampunk Party! The dance will be on Friday, June 2, as part of the kickoff to Jaywalkers Jamboree, a long-held tradition here that includes blocking off Main Street in order to fit all of the fun, rides and games. Prizes are to be awarded to those best dressed as well as most creative.
With the Camrose & District Centennial Museum, there is going to be a two day characterization workshop on June 10th and 24th which is already starting to gain some momentum. The hype around bringing the past to life is to me, geared up and loaded with great enthusiasm especially considering the vast options such as: who to portray and/or who we want to invent. Whether it is Steampunk or classic pioneer, there will be no shortage of great ideas. By pretending to be someone else, we get to shine in ways that may not be possible in our current reality. As for me, life is good. The sun is shining, spring is in the air and I get to spend the next two months working while having fun!! WooHoo**
